Celebrating 800 Years Of Otley

Otley 800 celebrates the town’s remarkable story, from the granting of its market charter in 1227 to the 800th anniversary of Otley Bridge in 2028. It’s a celebration of the people, places and stories that have shaped Otley across eight centuries, created by Otley Town Council with local people and community groups.

We were delighted to receive a grant from The National Heritage Lottery Fund in support of the celebration.

Why Otley 800 Matters

Otley 800 marks two anniversaries that helped shape the town we know today: the granting of Otley’s market charter in 1227 and the construction of Otley Bridge the following year. Together they helped establish Otley as a centre for trade, travel and community life. Eight centuries later, we’re coming together to celebrate that story and help write the next chapter.
